Panama against Costa Rica

The title of the opening night of the CONCACAF League of Nations comes from Estadio Olímpico Rommel Fernández Gutierrez.

The game begins a big two weeks for Costa Rica and ends with an inter-confederation play-off against New Zealand.

Los Ticos are currently in hot form, scoring 19 points in the last seven World Cup qualifiers, fourth in Panama.

Thus, on June 14, the team of Luis Fernando Suarez will face New Zealand in Qatar, leaving for the World Cup.

Earlier, Costa Rica is preparing for a pair of Nations League matches and will host Martinique in San Jose on Sunday.

In the final round, Los Ticos was the leader in the League of Nations group before losing to Mexico in a penalty shootout in the semi-finals last summer.

Will they start this campaign with a victory on the road?

Panama, meanwhile, made its World Cup debut in 2018, but as noted, it will not be in Qatar, which is slightly lower than Costa Rica in the standings.

In the League of Nations, the Jaguars almost relegated to League C in 2019, finishing just one point ahead of relegated Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Thus, every point is important for the team of David Perez Asensio, which is the favorite to finish the last step in this group.

Similarly, the Dominican Republic was third in its group two years ago, losing three of its six games, just ahead of Aruba.

Los Quisqueyanos have won just four of their last 12 competitive games, a form that needs to be improved during this race.

The two scenic Caribbean islands meet at Daren Sammy Cricket Ground.

Of the two, Antigua and Barbuda are favorites after three wins and three defeats in the B League in 2019.

Overall, the Benna Boys have won seven of their last 13 competitive games, so they will be sure to add another win here.

Meanwhile, Barbados rose to this level in 2019, surpassing the Cayman Islands, St. Martin and the US Virgin Islands.

The Guada boys reached this level in 2019, winning all four games against Sint Maarten and the Turks and Caicos Islands.

So Guadeloupe will be sure to compete at this level, this game is a good early test at Stade René Serge Nabajoth.

Anguilla vs Dominica

In League C, the lower tier of the League of Nations, Raymond E. Guishard faces two minnows at the Technical Center.

Anguilla is the lowest ranked team in the CONCACAF region, ranked 210th in the FIFA World Rankings, just below San Marino.

Last year, they lost all four of their World Cup qualifiers, conceding 23 goals and scoring 0 goals.

In total, they have lost 11 of their last 12 matches, with the exception of a 1-1 draw with the Bahamas, conceding a total of 59 goals.

Thus, Dominica will love its chances of victory.

They dropped to the bottom of the League of Nations in the last round, winning only one of the six games in the B League and losing the other five.

However, last year Rajesh Latchoo’s team was competitive in the World Cup qualifiers, beating Anguilla 3-0 before a 1-1 draw with Barbados.

Thus, victory on the road is very likely.
