Record, five-time African champions begin their final qualifying campaign.

It was not good against Egypt, which was defeated by Senegal on penalties in the final of the 2022 African Cup of Nations.

Fifty-one days later, as Egypt’s World Cup hopes flared up, deja vu was again in the playoffs against Senegal.

Since then, Ehab Galal has been the head coach and needed to motivate a group of players who were doubly disappointed.

The Pharaohs have qualified for 17 of the last 20 AFCON tournaments and are big favorites to be first in this group.

Guinea have reached the 1/8 finals, losing to Algeria and Gambia in each of the last two tournaments.

In total, the National Elephant has reached seven of the last ten editions, so it will try to maintain this solid record.

Malawi and Ethiopia complete Group D, which means they are the favorites to qualify.

Here, at the Cairo International Stadium, everything but the Egyptian victory would be a big surprise.

Can Ghana win two matches in the qualifying round of the African Cup of Nations?

The Black Stars campaign began on Wednesday night with a 3-0 victory over Madagascar at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

Mohammed Qudus, Felix Afena-Gyan and Osman Bukari were the targets in the second half.

2022 has been a turbulent year for Ghana, with AFCON exiting the group stage for the first time without a win.

However, in March, Otto Addon’s team defeated rival Nigeria on away goals to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar.

After this qualifying match, the Black Stars will face Japan, then Chile or Tunisia in a friendly while preparing for the World Cup.

Earlier, the four-time African champion will be sure of his second consecutive victory in the AFCON qualifiers.

Meanwhile, in the history of the Central African Republic, he is in this group, which has never qualified for a major tournament.

On the first day of the game in Angola, the Wild Animals took the lead with scorer Samuel Nlend, but were unable to continue, losing 2-1.

This game is also played in Luanda and Ghana should make it easier to win at Estádio 11 de Novembro.

Botswana vs Tunisia

Can Tunisia win two African Cups?

On Thursday night, the Carthage Eagles gave the Stade Olympique Hammadi a perfect start to the campaign, beating Equatorial Guinea 4-0 in Agrebi.

Naim Sliti closed the break in half before Seifeddine Jaziri and then Youssef Msakni won with a quick shot.

Given that Equatorial Guinea could be their biggest rival in Group J, Jalal Kadri’s team really made a mark.

After that, Tunisia travels east to Chile as World Cup preparations go up, and then to friendly matches with Japan or Ghana in the Kirin Cup.

Will they be easy to win before then?

In the first match of the group on Wednesday, Botswana beat Libya 1-0 in Benghazi.

The only AFCON appearance for zebras came in 2012, and they started the campaign at an early stage.

So Adel Amrouche’s side are outsiders and must be very strong at the Tunisian Obed Itani Chilume Stadium.

Ethiopia with Malawi

After a memorable run at the African Cup of Nations earlier this year, Malawi is looking forward to more memorable moments on the big stage.

In January, Flames advanced to the 1/8 finals in their first AFCON appearance in 12 years, beating Zimbabwe before a goalless draw with Senegal.

Then, in the first knockout round, Gabadinho was chased by Morocco despite being led by Mhango’s rocket.

Nevertheless, this progress was commendable for the relatives who are now seeking re-certification.

If Mario Marinica’s side finish in Group D in the top two, they will probably win.

Ethiopia, meanwhile, was in Cameroon earlier this year, scoring just one point in the group stage.

Despite being the 1962 African Champion, Ethiopia has qualified for only two of the last 20 editions and is weak in this group as well.

Five-time AFCON champions Egypt and Guinea have completed this section, so points are always important for these two outsiders.

Madagascar vs Angola

Can Madagascar get their qualifying campaign back on track after an easy defeat on the first day of the match?

On Wednesday night, the Barea campaign began at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium, losing 3-0 to the best Ghanaian.

However, Eric Rabésandratana still has a lot to play for, with the first two in each group qualifying for the African Cup of Nations.

So, if Madagascar, who reached the quarter-finals of their debut campaign three years ago, want to qualify again, the only thing they have to do is finish second.

Their biggest rivals for this place will most likely be Angola, who won on Wednesday.

The giant sable antelopes had to come from behind to beat the Central African Republic 2-1 at the Estádio 11 de Novembro.

M’Bala Nzola and Gelson Dala scored just four minutes apart.

Angola qualified for five consecutive AFCONs between 2006 and 2013, but has only appeared in one of the last four publications since then.

In general, the two are expected to compete for second place in Group E, which is vital for this clash at the Mahamasina Municipal Stadium.
