The 2022 Day Time Creative Arts and Lifestyle Emmy Awards took place on Saturday, June 18, at the Pasadena Convention Center, featuring syndicated speakers from “The Kelly Clarkson Show” and “The Drew Barrymore Show” as well as CBS’s “The Young and the Restless” and Netflix’s ” Penguin Town. “

“Kelly Clarkson” won five awards, while “Penguin Town” won three. Outside of Syndication, Netflix was the big single network winner, with a total of nine picks, spread across “Penguin Town,” “Cat Man,” “Headspace: Guide to Meditation” and “You Versus Wild: Out Cold.”

Also note, the final season of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” landed Daytime Emmy for Best Writing Team for the Daytime Non-Fiction Program. And in its first season, Judge Judy Sheindlin’s new series “Judy Justice” for IMDbTV (now Amazon Freevee) won for a legal / court show. (It also ripped the first daytime Emmy for IMDbTV / Freevee.)

The show is a prelude to next week’s 49th annual Daytime Emmy Awards telecast, which airs live on CBS on Friday, June 24. The ceremony, which begins at 9 pm at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium (tape delay on the West Coast); It will be available to customers with premium accounts on Paramount + including local CBS channels. Otherwise, all Paramount + users will be able to watch the show starting tomorrow.

This is the first year under the agreement between the two major TV academies that several categories have been reorganized to focus on genre instead of Departs as a way to differentiate between primetime (administered by LA-based TV academies). Daytime Ames (handled by NY-based NATAS). This is also the first year that the children and family program categories have been removed from both shows and relocated to the new Children and Family Emmy Awards competition and ceremony, the first new Emmy show since 1979. (That event will take place in December.)

“This Old Home” received the Lifetime Achievement Award at Saturday night’s event. The show, which received two more nominations this year, has now reached the 100 nomination threshold. “This Old House”, which first premiered in 1979, is in its 43rd season.

Overall this year, CBS’s “The Young and the Restless” received the most Daytime Emmy nominations, with 18, followed by ABC’s “General Hospital” with 17. Of the outlets, Syndicate Rent earned the top tally, with 48 nodes for various. Program distributors, then two broadcasters are tied at the top: ABC and CBS, both with 31. (Netflix was next, with 27.) New networks have received their first Daytime Emmy nominations, including MasterClass, Discovery + and IMDb TV (now renamed Amazon Freevee).
